Delhi Capitals names the one over eliminator
A superb 99 from Prithvi Shaw was only enough to help Delhi Capitals reach 185 for six batting second which tied the Knight Riders, who had earlier lost two more wickets.
Knight Riders seamer Prasidh Krishna conceded 10 runs bowling first in the super over before Proteas fast bowler Rabada defended that target in going for only seven runs. He uprooted Andre Russell’s middle stump with a perfect Yorker in the process.
Earlier, right-handed opener Shaw, 19, struck 12 fours and three sixes in only 55 deliveries to all but get Delhi over the line.
He was desperately unlucky not to reach three figures for the first time in his T20 career when, with 12 runs to get off 10 balls for the win, he attempted a pull shot off Lockie Ferguson and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik pouched the top-edged skier.
Shaw’s effort beat his previous best T20 score of 71 scored for Mumbai against Goa in Indore a month earlier.
